The Turrón Museum will be participating in International Museum Day tomorrow, May 18, offering free entrance to visitors, so as to give them the chance to get to know the gastronomic and cultural tradition that has made Jijona the centre of the Turrón world.
Visitors will get a tour of the 500 years of manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of the widely-sought-after Jijona turrón and marzipan. The idea is that the day should also be a tribute to all those who help to drive the Christmas fare industry and to the area’s economy and its people.
To celebrate International Museum Day, the Turrón Museum will be offering free tasting of a wide range of products, including the traditional nougats from Jijona and Alicante, as well as other Christmas sweets and chocolates. Visitors will also be offered 50% discounts on all the Museum’s books and merchandising, as well as a free nougat cutter with every product bought.
Jijona’s Turrón Museum forms part of the Province of Alicante’s Industrial Tourism Network and is recognised as an official museum of Valencia by the Region’s Generalitat.
